I had technically been to Pocatello once before this trip, but it was for my cousin’s wedding, so I’ll be honest... I had NO idea what else was there. 😂 I basically showed up for the wedding, did wedding things and left without really exploring the area.
So when I was invited back for the first ever Visit Pocatello & Chubbuck Influencer Weekend, aka the “Gate City Getaway,” I was excited to actually see what Pocatello had to offer.
And I was genuinely surprised by how much there was to do.
We packed a LOT into basically 48 hours. We ate our way around town, rode e bikes, got pampered, stayed in a house that Post Malone has literally stayed in, went to Lava Hot Springs and got to experience Pocatello with such a fun group of Idaho creators.
Here’s a little recap of everything we did and some ideas to save if you’re looking for things to do in Pocatello, Idaho!
Staying at the Post Malone House
First things first, our Airbnb... because apparently Post Malone has stayed there before?!
The house was HUGE with six bedrooms, four bathrooms, a swim spa, hot tub, sand volleyball pit and gorgeous views overlooking the valley. It was the perfect setup for a big group and gave all of us a place to hang out together between everything we had planned.
We also walked into the sweetest little welcome setup with some Idaho goodies waiting for each of us. We got Minky Couture blankets, custom Idaho quarter zips, Red Aspen HydraBounce Milky Toner and a Hydrate product. Such a cute way to kick off the weekend, and I’m definitely not mad about finally getting my own Minky blanket!
Dinner at Cielito Lindo + Extreme Rush
Our first night started with dinner at Cielito Lindo, a local Mexican restaurant in Pocatello. It was our first chance to sit down, meet everyone and get to know the group we’d be spending the weekend with.
After dinner we headed to Extreme Rush, which has go karts, laser tag and arcade games. Considering the last time I went go karting in Boise I injured my knee, I decided I had learned my lesson and stuck to the arcade games this time. 🫣 😅 Probably the responsible choice.
Bagels + E Bikes Through Pocatello
Friday morning started at 5th Street Bagelry for breakfast before heading over to Barrie’s Ski and Sports for our e bike ride.
We rode through the Edson Fichter Nature Area, and this was easily one of my favorite parts of the trip. I love an e bike because you get all the fun of biking without having to pretend you’re in the Tour de France.
The weather was also being VERY Idaho that morning. We had these giant dramatic clouds rolling in while we were riding, but thankfully we managed to get the whole ride in.
Lunch + A Little Pocatello Pampering
After biking, we headed to Palate Neighborhood Bistro for lunch and then split off for our beauty appointments around Pocatello.
I got a pedicure at Blush Beauty Spa and then headed to Callidora Day Spa & Salon for a blowout with Raegan. And let me tell you, whoever scheduled a blowout AFTER an e bike ride and helmet hair knew exactly what they were doing. 😂
It was so nice having a few hours in the afternoon to relax and get ready before heading back out for dinner.
Dinner at The Yellowstone + Lava Hot Springs
That night we got dressed up and headed to The Yellowstone in Historic Downtown Pocatello for dinner. The restaurant is located inside the historic Hotel Yellowstone and was such a pretty spot for our nicer dinner of the weekend.
Then we changed gears completely, grabbed our swimsuits and headed to Lava Hot Springs.
This was probably one of my favorite parts of the whole trip. We spent the rest of the night hanging out in the geothermal hot pools, which range from around 102 to 112 degrees. Sitting in the hot springs with a bunch of girlfriends after SUCH a packed day was the perfect way to end the night.
One Last Morning in Pocatello
After a VERY full Friday, Saturday morning was thankfully a little more relaxed. We started the day with coffee from Glean Coffee Roasters and then headed to the Portneuf Valley Farmers Market to walk around and check out some of the local vendors.
Coffee + a farmers market is much more my speed after staying at Lava Hot Springs until almost 11 PM the night before. 😂 After that, we headed back to the house, packed everything up and said goodbye before making the drive back to Boise.
My Takeaway From Pocatello
Before this trip, my only experience with Pocatello was going there once for my cousin’s wedding. I really had no idea what else was there, so I think that’s what surprised me most about this weekend.
We packed a LOT into basically 48 hours, from local restaurants and e biking to getting pampered, exploring downtown and ending a night at Lava Hot Springs. I also loved that so much of the weekend was centered around supporting local businesses and actually getting to experience Pocatello and Chubbuck instead of just driving through.
And honestly, the group made the weekend even better. Getting a bunch of Idaho creators together in one house for a few days was SO much fun. I came home with new friends, approximately 4,000 photos and videos on my phone and a completely different impression of Pocatello.
Turns out, there’s a lot more there than I realized. 😂
