Flower Child in Meridian: Our First Visit at The Village

Gabby and I got a sneak peek at Flower Child during their friends and family preview, and we tried SO much of the menu! We spent the afternoon checking out the space, catching up with other local creators, and working our way through everything from hummus and queso to salmon, wraps, and dessert.

Flower Child officially opened at The Village at Meridian on October 13, making this their first Idaho location. If you’ve walked past the lemon-covered exterior and wondered what’s inside, it’s a casual spot for made-from-scratch meals, with bowls, salads, wraps, protein plates, and plenty of ways to put together your own lunch.

A casual lunch spot with a patio

You order at the counter here, so it’s easy to keep things casual. Inside, there’s colorful artwork, patterned tile, and little flowers on the tables. The green and yellow chairs carry out onto the patio, where umbrellas and string lights make the outdoor seating feel just as much a part of the restaurant.

I love having an outdoor option, especially when I’m already spending the day at The Village. This would be an easy place to meet a friend for lunch before walking around the shops, or to stop for food when a shopping trip runs longer than planned. Which, honestly, happens.

What we tried at Flower Child

We started with the Classic Hummus and Green Chile Queso, then tried The 1924 wrap, the Miso Glazed Salmon bowl, and more. Going with a group gave us a chance to try several different parts of the menu, so we got a much better introduction than we would have by each ordering one thing.

The 1924 is a chicken wrap with avocado Caesar dressing, while the salmon bowl comes with brown rice and vegetables. There are also customizable plates where you choose a protein and two sides. I like having that option when you know what sounds good and want to put your own combination together.

The menu includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, too, which is helpful when you’re making lunch plans with friends who eat differently. You can look through the full Meridian menu before you go rather than trying to decide everything at the counter.

Get the Rose Petal Lemonade - and leave room for dessert

One thing I’d recommend from our visit is the Rose Petal Lemonade! They have a selection of bottled and canned drinks along with their house-made drinks, but that’s one I’d tell you to try. Beer, wine, and seasonal sangria are available, too, if you’re meeting up for a more leisurely lunch.

We also tried the lemon olive oil cake and chocolate brownie, and the desserts were so good! Both were gluten-free, which is worth knowing if you usually find yourself with limited dessert choices. If you have an allergy or need to avoid cross-contact, check with the team before ordering; the kitchen itself isn’t gluten-free.

Planning your visit

Flower Child is at 3395 E. Longwing Lane, Suite 100, Meridian, inside The Village at Meridian. Current hours are 11am-9pm daily, and you can order online through their website.

We’ll definitely be back to try more. Save this for your next lunch at The Village, and send it to the friend who needs to join you for Rose Petal Lemonade and dessert!
