There is just something so fun about getting a first look inside beautifully built homes before everyone else. That is exactly what the Great Homes Tour feels like. It is part home inspiration, part weekend plan, and part reminder of just how many gorgeous communities and builders we have right here in the Treasure Valley.
This year’s Great Homes Tour returns over two weekends, April 17 through 19 and April 24 through 26, and it is completely free to attend. Even better, it is not just about touring homes. You can expect community events, food trucks, giveaways, and a meaningful partnership with CATCH Idaho woven throughout the experience.
What is the Great Homes Tour?
The Great Homes Tour is a FREE, two weekend event that showcases new construction, thoughtful design, and community living across some of the Treasure Valley’s most desirable neighborhoods. This year, the tour features 11 showcase homes and five builders across Pinnacle in South Meridian and Cartwright Ranch in the Boise Foothills. Touring hours are Friday and Saturday from 12 PM to 7 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM.
If you are actively house hunting, this is a great way to compare styles, layouts, finishes, and neighborhood vibes in one weekend. If you are not buying right now, it is still worth going for the inspiration alone. You get to step inside spaces that are polished, creative, and full of those little details that make you stop and say, okay, I love this. That part is my take after my sneak peek through featured homes from Alturas, James Clyde, and Brighton, all of which showed off strong craftsmanship and very different design personalities.
Where you’ll be touring
One of the best parts of the Great Homes Tour is that it gives you more than one version of Treasure Valley living.
Pinnacle in South Meridian brings a planned community feel with standout amenities including multiple pools, parks, an outdoor amphitheater, school sites, and walking paths designed to make it easy to gather, relax, and move around the neighborhood. It feels connected, polished, and lively.
Then there is Cartwright Ranch in the Boise Foothills, which leans into views, open space, trails, and a quieter foothills setting. Within Cartwright Ranch, The Highlands highlights custom home designs with scenic homesites, while Creekside offers modern Brighton homes tucked along Dry Creek, with some layouts featuring rooftop decks for even more of that foothills scenery.
The featured builders this year are Alturas Homes, Brighton, James Clyde Homes, J. Edwards by Brighton, and Osprey Homes. Together, they bring a mix of timeless design, energy efficiency, custom details, and homes built around how people actually live.
More than just a home tour
The Great Homes Tour is not one of those events where you quietly walk through a house and head home. It is designed to feel like an experience!
Both Fridays feature Food Truck Friday in each community, which makes the whole event feel a little more social and a lot more fun. There are also community block parties, giveaways and prizes, plus a tour passport available at every showcase home. The passport is worth grabbing because it includes home details, community information, giveaway details, and the event schedule. As you visit each home, you can collect stickers in your passport, then turn in the completed passport for entry into the grand giveaway after the event.
It is a smart setup because it gives you a reason to explore everything, not just one or two homes. It also makes the event feel interactive instead of overwhelming, which I always appreciate when there is a lot to see.
A few things to know before you go
There are a few simple guidelines in place during the tour. Guests are asked to wear complimentary booties over their shoes or keep socks on if going shoeless, avoid touching furniture and finishes, supervise children, stay on walkways, and park thoughtfully around the homes and surrounding neighborhoods.
That may sound basic, but it helps keep the homes looking beautiful for every person walking through after you. A little courtesy goes a long way when the homes are dressed to impress.
Why the CATCH Idaho partnership matters
One of the most meaningful parts of the Great Homes Tour is its support for CATCH Idaho. CATCH is a local nonprofit focused on ending homelessness in Southwest Idaho through a Housing First approach, supportive services, collaborative partnerships, and resources that help people move toward long term stability.
As part of the Great Homes Tour, participating builders pledge a $500 donation to CATCH for every home sold during the event. The tour also invites guests to support the “Make It Home” effort, which helps provide the everyday essentials that turn a newly secured housing space into a real home, things like beds, towels, cookware, and other basics. According to the event materials, participating builders are matching donations to help fully fund each bundle, which means every contribution can go even further.
That piece of the event adds so much heart. You are not just walking through beautiful homes and dreaming about design ideas. You are also stepping into an event that gives back in a tangible way to families and individuals right here in the Treasure Valley.
