September is Idaho Preferred Month, by proclamation of the Governor of Idaho, honoring our 25,000 farm and ranch families that produce locally grown or raised fruits, vegetables, proteins and 185 other commodities! Dairy is one of Idaho's strongest agricultural sectors. On behalf of Idaho dairy farmers, Unbottled is continuously celebrating local farmers and their products.
It's a time to celebrate and showcase the best of local products, and when it comes to dairy, Idaho has a lot to offer.
With a thriving dairy industry and a wide range of dairy products made right here in Idaho, it's no wonder that locals are proud of their dairy heritage.
Did you know that the dairy industry supports Idaho’s economy with over 33 Thousand jobs?!
Out of these jobs, 6,800 are on a farm. Idaho has 609,000 dairy cows and about 360 dairy operations. This allows Idaho to be ranked #3 in the US for milk production. Move over potatoes! Each year, over 16.5 billions pounds of milk is produced in Idaho. What about cheese you ask? Well, Idaho produces 895 millions pounds of cheese each year.
REAL. LOCAL. DAIRY
One of the highlights of Idaho Preferred Month is the collaboration between Unbottled and national retail outlets like Walmart. Through this partnership, consumers can experience the convenience of shopping while supporting local dairy producers. It's a win-win situation that benefits both the consumers and the local economy. During September, when you step into your local Walmart, you'll find a variety of dairy products proudly labeled with the 'Real. Local. Dairy' and 'Idaho Preferred' signage. This signage ensures that you're purchasing dairy items that are made locally in Idaho. Year-round you can find over 80 fresh, quality dairy items made right here in Idaho.
Remember, when you choose dairy, you're not just choosing something delicious. You're choosing greatness.
