Earlier this month, Sky and I stayed at The Retreat McCall during Winter Carnival and got a firsthand look at what this property is all about.
It feels tucked away and private, but it’s actually built for something much bigger than a weekend getaway. If you’re planning a wedding, corporate retreat, or destination event in McCall, this is one of those places you’ll want to know about.
Here’s what makes it different.
A Private Mountain Setting That Still Feels Convenient
The Retreat sits on 40 forested acres just north of Jughandle Mountain. Once you turn onto Boulder Lake Road and head up the drive, you’re surrounded by trees and quiet. It feels secluded in a way that’s hard to find.
But downtown McCall is only about 15 minutes away. During Winter Carnival, we’d head into town for the festivities, then come back up to total stillness at night. It really does give you the best of both worlds.
The building itself blends clean, modern design with mountain warmth. Hand-built furniture, simple finishes, oversized windows looking out into the forest. It’s upscale without feeling stiff.
Designed for Group Experiences
While we stayed as a couple, this space was designed for events and group gatherings.
Weddings up to 120 guests. Onsite lodging for up to 40 people. Corporate and leadership retreats with true privacy. Wellness weekends and destination gatherings.
There are 13 single queen rooms and 3 double queen rooms, and each one includes a private bathroom, mini fridge, and microwave. That means your guests don’t have to share awkward spaces or scatter across town. Everyone stays together.
For corporate retreats especially, this setup is huge. You have the entire property. No random foot traffic. No noise from other guests. Just space to think, plan, and connect.
And for weddings, the idea of your closest friends and family staying onsite, waking up together in the mountains, and celebrating all weekend long? It feels intentional and meaningful.
The Story Behind It
One detail I love is that the building design was inspired by a song. That creative origin actually shows up in the way the property feels. It doesn’t feel like a generic event center. It feels personal.
The whole space was built around the idea of creating somewhere people can gather, celebrate, rest, and strengthen what they’re building, whether that’s a marriage, a business, or simply community.
That purpose comes through.
Why It’s Worth Seeing in Person
Staying there during Winter Carnival gave us a glimpse of what it would feel like to host something bigger there. The quiet mornings. Coffee before heading into town. Snow falling through the trees at night.
It’s one thing to see photos online. It’s another to stand on the property and realize how much space you actually have to work with.
If you’re planning a destination wedding, a leadership retreat, or any type of multi day event in McCall, this is absolutely worth touring.
It’s private, thoughtfully designed, and built for bringing people together in a way that feels elevated but still grounded.
Cheers to mountain weekends done right!
